Custom Wooden Pallets Built to Your Spec
When a standard 48x40 does not fit your product, we build the pallet that does. Send a drawing, a sample pallet, or just your product dimensions and load weight, our shop turns it into a spec sheet with unit pricing.
Custom builds run from 24x24 up to 120x120 in stringer or block construction. Deck-board count, stringer size (2x4 or 3x4), wood species, and nail schedule are all matched to how the pallet is loaded, stacked, and racked.

Heat-Treated ISPM 15 Pallets for Export
Shipping overseas? Wood packaging that is not ISPM 15 compliant gets held, fumigated, or rejected at the destination port, at your expense. Every export pallet we build is kiln heat-treated to a core temperature of 56 degrees C for a minimum of 30 minutes and stamped with the IPPC mark customs officers look for.
We are ISPM 15 certified and heat-treat in our own Florence facility, so export orders do not wait in a third-party queue. Typical lead time is one to two weeks.
- 56C core for 30 minutes
- IPPC stamped on site
- Accepted by 180+ countries

Recycled Pallets: Grade A & Grade B, Inspected and Repaired
A recycled 48x40 costs 30-50% less than a new one and carries the same freight. Every used pallet that comes through our Florence yard is sorted, repaired on our repair line, and graded before it goes back out: broken boards replaced, loose nails re-driven, and anything that will not hold spec pulled and dismantled for parts.
Grade A pallets have no stringer repairs and clean decks; Grade B pallets carry a repaired stringer. If your loads leave your dock and do not come back, recycled is usually the right buy.
- Grade A and Grade B
- 30-50% below new
- Every recycled pallet is inspected, graded, and repaired as needed
Recycled pallet grades
| Grade | Condition | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| Grade A (#1) | No stringer repairs, tight decks, uniform appearance | Customer-facing loads, racking, mixed retail freight |
| Grade B (#2) | 1+ repaired stringer (companion/block repair), inspected and graded | One-way shipping, internal moves, export after HT |
| Cores (as-is) | Unrepaired, sold by the stack | Shops with their own repair bench |

Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes of pallets do you build?
Standard 48x40 GMA pallets are always in stock. Custom builds run from 24x24 up to 120x120 in stringer or block construction, hardwood or softwood, with deck-board counts matched to your load weight.
How fast can you deliver pallets in North Alabama?
Typical lead time is one to two weeks, depending on the product, order size, and current production schedule. Used 48x40 pallets are usually in stock and can move sooner. If you are against a deadline, say so and we can often accommodate urgent orders when capacity allows.
Do you sell heat-treated pallets for export?
Yes. We kiln heat-treat pallets to the ISPM 15 standard, a 56 degrees C core temperature for 30 minutes, then stamp them with the IPPC mark accepted by customs worldwide.
What is the difference between Grade A and Grade B recycled pallets?
Grade A recycled pallets have no stringer repairs and clean deck boards, close to new appearance. Grade B pallets may have a repaired stringer (companion or block repair) but carry the same loads. Grade B runs about 15-20% cheaper.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
There is no fixed minimum on pallets, though pricing and delivery options depend on quantity. Full truckloads (roughly 500-600 pallets) get the best per-unit freight cost, and smaller orders combine with partial loads on our regular routes.
What do you need from me to quote a custom pallet?
Product footprint, unit load weight, and how the pallet is handled (forklift, pallet jack, racking, conveyor). A drawing or sample helps but is not required. We can reverse-engineer from a photo with a tape measure in frame.
Stringer or block: which should I choose?
Stringer pallets cost less and handle most forklift traffic; notched stringers give partial four-way entry. Block pallets give true four-way entry and hold up better in racking and closed-loop programs. We will recommend one based on your handling.
What is the minimum order for a custom pallet?
There is no fixed minimum, though pricing and delivery options depend on the quantity. Setup time is the same either way, so very small custom runs carry a higher per-unit cost. For small quantities we can often adapt a standard size instead.
Can custom pallets be heat-treated for export?
Yes. Any custom build can be kiln heat-treated to ISPM 15 and stamped with the IPPC mark on site. Add 1-2 days to lead time.
Is heat-treated the same as kiln-dried?
No. Kiln-drying reduces moisture and may not hit the ISPM 15 temperature profile. Heat treatment must reach 56 degrees C at the wood core for 30 minutes and be verified under an audited program. Our HT pallets meet the ISPM 15 schedule specifically.
Do domestic shipments need ISPM 15 pallets?
No. Shipments within the continental US do not require ISPM 15. Many international destinations require ISPM 15 compliant wood packaging. Tell us where your shipment is going and we will help determine the appropriate requirement. If a load might get exported, treating it up front usually costs less than re-palletizing at a freight forwarder.
Does the IPPC stamp expire?
No. Heat treatment is permanent and the stamp does not expire. However, if a pallet is repaired with untreated lumber it loses compliance, which is why export users buy new HT pallets rather than repaired cores.
Can you heat-treat crates and dunnage too?
Yes. Crates, boxes, dunnage, and loose lumber all go through the same kiln and get the same stamp. Mixed orders, HT pallets plus HT dunnage, ship together.
How much do recycled pallets save versus new?
Typically 30-50% depending on grade and market lumber prices. Grade B saves the most; Grade A splits the difference between B and new. Send your monthly volume and we will quote both ways.
Are recycled pallets strong enough for racking?
Grade A pallets with no stringer damage are generally fine in standard racking at typical grocery loads (2,000-2,500 lb). For heavier racked loads or open-span racking, tell us the rack type and we will grade-select or recommend new.
Can recycled pallets be used for export?
Only if every component is ISPM 15 heat-treated and the pallet carries a valid stamp. We can run Grade B pallets through our kiln and re-certify them. Ask for HT recycled pricing.
Do you buy used pallets?
Yes, from existing customers and from companies we do not currently supply. Whether we buy them, credit your account, or remove them free of charge depends on the size, condition, quantity, and location. Call (256) 767-3813 with a photo of the stack and your location.
What does GMA stand for?
Grocery Manufacturers Association, the trade group that standardized the 48x40 four-way pallet. 'GMA pallet' now just means a 48x40 built to that spec: notched stringers, 7-board top deck, 5-board bottom deck.
How much weight does a 48x40 GMA pallet hold?
Capacity depends on lumber, deck-board thickness, nail pattern, load distribution, and rack configuration, so we do not publish a blanket number. Pallets can be designed around your specific load and handling requirements. Tell us the load weight and how the pallet is handled, and we will recommend the right build.
Should I buy new or recycled 48x40s?
If pallets leave your dock and never come back, recycled Grade B saves the most. If loads are racked, exported, or headed to strict receiving docks, buy new or Grade A. Most plants run a mix. We will help you split the order.
How fast can I get a truckload?
Typical lead time is one to two weeks. Used 48x40s are usually in stock and can move sooner; new pallets are built to order. A full truckload is roughly 500-600 pallets.
